Sequoyah powerlifting placed 2 in the large school division last Friday at the Hilldale meet. Logan Bush and Caleb Helsley placed 1st. Ethan Winn placed 2nd. Logan Bush was selected as the Outstanding Lifter for the meet.
The Sequoyah Powerlifting Team won the 3A State Championship in Norman on Friday, March 11!!! Indian Iron put on a dominant display of strength to claim the 1st Powerlifting State Championship in school history! Individual medalists: 2nd - Jake Sevier (123), 2nd - Justin Hooper (157), 2nd - Dakota Kahbeah (168), 5th - Logan Bush (168), and 5th - Tyler Barnett (198).

The Sequoyah Powerlifting Team is heading to the State Meet in Norman on Friday, March 10. Indian Iron won the Northeast 3A Regional Championship for the 3rd consecutive year at Cleveland with outstanding performances by several lifters. We had 3 individual regional champions - Justin Hooper (157), Dakota Kahbeah (168), and Tyler Barnett (198). Justin Hooper also won the Outstanding Bench Award. Jacob Sevier (123) and Everett Farris (242) placed 2nd. Garrison Fields (123), Logan Bush (168), and Ryan Carroll (SHW) placed 4th. Trey Pritchett (181) placed 5th.
Justin Hooper, SHS junior, won the 3A Powerlifting 145 Pound State Championship for 2015. His lift total for squat, bench, and deadlift was 1,105 pounds. Hooper was also the 145 Pound State Champion in 2014 as a sophomore.
Sequoyah powerlifting is 2015 3A Regional Champion and Large School Division Runner-Up. 10 Indians qualified for State. Justin Hooper and Everett Farris are Regional Champions. Hooper won the outstanding large school bench press award. Bradly Davis, Damon Davidson, and Braxton Hammer placed 3rd. Ryan Carroll placed 4th. Dakota Kabeah, Tiron Gourd, and Lakota Doublehead placed 5th. Logan Bush is an "at-large" qualifier.
Indian Iron entered the State Meet as Regional Champions as did Justin Hooper and Collin Vann. The team earned 2 firsts for SHS by being named 3A Regional Champs and Large School Champs (best of all 3A and larger schools)!
